The Leader’s Message

You receive a lot of communication; some are more compelling than others. Do you know why? We all communicate as a part of our roles, but how effective is our communication? This workshop series is for those who want to communicate more effectively as a leader. These practical sessions will take you through a series of provocative exercises to give you tools for improving your leadership communication skills. This series was recorded from a faculty development workshop series at the University of Utah that my colleague (Isaac Holyoak) and I gave in May 2020.

Principles

Relationships are the heart of effective
communication. The quality of
communication depends on your ability to identify with our audience by speaking their language and understanding their needs. Meet the audience where they are and communicate accordingly.

Principle of Context

The Needs of the situation determine the purpose of your communication, whether it is to inform, deliberate, or persuade. All aspects of the communication, from what you say to how you say it, should resonate with the moment. Keep your desired
